Reloading an OS on a Blackberry

Prerequisites: You must have the latest release of the Blackberry Device software.

First we must open the Blackberry Desktop Manager. Once in the software click on Help to enable it’s drop-down.

On the Menu drop down click About Desktop Manager.

While in the About Desktop Manager window select the tab named Device Software.

Make sure that you are running the latest version of the Blackberry Device Software provided by your wireless carrier. If you are not running the latest version you can download it here.

Once you’ve verified that you have the latest version of the Blackberry Device Software Installed click close to return to the About Desktop Manager dialog box and again click Close to return to the Blackberry Desktop Manager.

We are now ready to begin the reloading of the OS on your Blackberry. Please be advised that the following steps will result in the deletion of all data stored on your phone.

1.    While the Blackberry Desktop Manager is open connect your Blackberry to your computer via the USB data cable.
2.    From the Blackberry Desktop Manager home screen double click Application Loader. This will launch the installation screen. Click Next to begin the process.
3.    You may be prompted to enter the password for your Blackberry. If prompted enter it and click OK.
4.    Select the checkbox which refers to which update you would like to install and click Next.

5.    Next click Settings, and check all boxes that refer to the Delete all application data & Erase all currently installed applications.

6.    Uncheck the box that corresponds with Back up device data automatically during the installation process. After box is uncheck click Ok to continue.

7.    Click on Next and then Finish to complete the installation.

8.    Once the installation has finished you will see a message
saying The loading operation was successful. Click Close to return to the Blackberry Desktop Manager Window.

The installation is now complete. You have successfully reloaded the OS onto your Blackberry Smartphone device.
