How to Install the Blackberry Desktop Software 5.0.1.28
The Blackberry Desktop Software allows users to connect a Blackberry to their computer so they may sync things like organizer, music, and other media files. The Blackberry Desktop Software also allows users to add or remove applications from their phones easily. And of course maybe the most important function the Blackberry Desktop Software serves is the ability to back up and restore their cell phones.
In this article I will walk you through the process of downloading the Blackberry software, and how to install it.
First go to http://www.blackberry.com
Select your country or region. You will then be redirected to your country or region specific page.
Select software on the menu bar.
Click on Blackberry Desktop Software, this will activate the information about BlackBerry Desktop Software. Then click on "Learn more about BlackBerry Desktop Software."
This will bring you to Blackberry Desktop Software download page.
Click on Yes or No if you would, or would not like to receive information about RIM.
Click Download and save the file to a location on your hard drive. Browse to the location where you saved the file, and double click the file to open it.
WinZip will activate and extract files for installation.
Select your language and then click OK
The Blackberry Desktop Software 5.0.1 InstallaShield Wizard will appear on your screen. Click Next to begin the installation
Select the country or region you reside in and click Next
Accept the license agreement and click Next to proceed.
Select the destination folder and click Next to continue.
You can select Typical or Custom depending on your needs. Selecting Typical will install default programs and features. Selecting Custom will allow you to choose which programs and features you would like install and where they will be installed.
I recommend selecting typical. Click Next to proceed.
At this point you are presented with how you would like to manage your Blackberry. You can choose to install the Blackberry Media Sync, the Roxio Media Manager, or both.
If you use iTunes or Windows Media Player to manager your music files, then I recommend you install the Blackberry Media Sync. If you do not use these programs, then there is no need to install the Blackberry media Sync.
If you want to copy pictures or video files between your Blackberry and your computer, I recommend you install the Roxio Media Manager. If this is not a concern then there is no need to install this.
Choose whether you would like to integrate your email with a personal or work email account. For our purposes we will select personal email account.
Select how you would like the Blackberry Software 5.0.1 to act, and then click Install to begin the installation.
Once the installation completes, click Finish to close the program.
You will then be prompted to restart your computer.
Once your computer has been restarted connect your Blackberry to your computer and open the Blackberry Desktop Software to start utilizing it's features.
