The Blackberry Curve 8900 was released on February 11th 2009. It was code named Javelin and is still referred to this by some. The BB Curve 8900 was heralded as a replacement for the Blackberry Curve 8300 series phones. With increased resolution capabilities, faster processor, more memory, better camera, and Wi-Fi support it as looked at as a true upgrade over the Curve 8300 series. The phone is available for both AT&T and T-Mobile as well as many international carriers. The BB Curve 8900 has been succeeded by the Curve 8500 series.

The BB Curve 8900 was acclaimed for its sleek body design, improved screen resolution, and Blackberry App world support.

The BB Curve 8900 was not without critics however. Users were disappointed by the lack of 3G on the 8900. This was also a criticism of the 8300 series. Users also reported the phone slowing down significantly after apps had been installed. Many people experienced the phone freezing with the only way of fixing the issue was to remove the battery and restart the phone.
